ETOWN DOLPHINS SWIM TEAM HISTORY
The Etown Dolphins Swim Team formed in November 1980 under the leadership of Coach Joel "Cy" Cyganiewicz.
This was the first competitive swim program in the area. It stemmed from strong community interest in a growing and thriving swim team that would practice at the Elizabethtown city pool. Dr. and Mrs. William Godfrey were instrumental in growth as they recognized the need and provided a long-time home for the Dolphins at the Elizabethtown Swim and Fitness Center.
The Dolphins grew into a successful local swim team under Coach Cy's leadership. He also oversaw a strong foundation for the team with the creation of a swim lesson program. Many distinguished personal and team records were set during his time with the team. Those records are helped to set benchmarks at both the state and national levels.
This team legacy was founded on integrity with a coach-led program in conjunction with a parent volunteer Board of Directors. It took an united effort from swimmers, coaches, parents, and community to set the legacy of success the Dolphins have today.
